Early this morning, around 10 past 12, my childhood ended. After following Harry Potter from the beginning in both book and film form, I saw the last film, nearly four years after completing the final book.
In all honesty, it feels like someone's died. This has been a massive part of my life for so long, the characters, places, creatures and spells have all contributed to my imagination, pushing the boundaries of personal fantasy and allowing me to connect with true heroes and true villains, as well as the people in between that to this day, I really can't place in either the Death Eaters or the Order of the Phoenix. That's the genius of JK Rowling, you've got the wholly bad, racial supremacist Voldemort, the wholly good Albus Dumbledore, but then the likes of Snape, a character who's motives are constantly in question, whose allegiance is never crystal clear until the end.
At the risk of sounding like a cliché, the universe of Harry Potter takes you on a real journey, a journey that sometimes feels more real than the actual world we live in.
That's why I hope JK will continue the story somehow, I especially want to know more about the Malfoy family, whom I have an unjustifiable yet intense attraction to. I want to see more Draco, and more Scorpious. JK has stated plans to compose an encyclopedia, a sort of Potter dictionary containing everything from Umbridge to the Whomping Willow to the Cruciatus Curse. And I look forward to the Pottermore website opening to get more information about those whose fates remained unknown at the end of the last book/film.
